Main Street, Wishaw Development

As you may remember, one of Trust's key promises to WDHA tenants was to develop the former Tesco site at Main Street in Wishaw. Throughout this year, there has been a number of meetings with both North Lanarkshire Council's Planning Department and Environmental Services.
The council wants to ensure that the residential properties will not be impacted in any way from noise distrubance from the neigbouring hotel and nightclub. We were able to allay these concerns and we are delighted to advise that on 2 December 2020 planning permission for the development of 42 new homes on the site was approved, subject to Section 75 agreement.
Rhona McLeod, Chief Executive of Trust Housing Association commented "Having just marked the anniversary of the transfer on December 1, I am delighted to announce that planning permission, subject to legal agreement, for 42 much-need new socially rented homes has been approved. Planning approval is a key milestone in the development of the site for both the town of Wishaw and Trust Housing Association. I would like to thank our partners at North Lanarkshire Council and all those who have helped us in securing it".
The Main Street site has lay empty for nearly 10 years, and now that we have secured planning permission, we will begin the development of much needed, new affordable homes in Wishaw which is truly great news. We hope to be on-site by spring next year.
